The colony had been quiet for years, but the sensors picked up a signal-faint, rhythmic, artificial. Captain Elena Vasquez stood in the command center, her eyes on the display.

"Command, this is Odyssey. I've found something."

"Copy, Odyssey. What is it?"

"A signal. Coming from deep space."

The Builders appeared beside her. "It's our home world. We thought it was destroyed."

"Then we need to go," Elena said.

The Odyssey launched, its engines burning. The journey was long, the space between stars dark and cold.

The home world was dead-its surface barren, its atmosphere gone. But the signal came from beneath the surface.

"Take us down," Elena ordered.

They landed near a bunker, its door sealed. The Builders opened it, their codes still working.

Inside, a holographic display flickered to life, revealing a figure-tall, silver-skinned, its eyes kind.

"Welcome home," it said. "We have been waiting."

The Builders wept, their silver skin gleaming.

"We thought you were dead," their leader said.

"We hid. To survive. And now we can rebuild."

Elena looked at the bunker, at the survivors, at the future.

"Let's get to work," she said.

The Odyssey carried the survivors to the colony, where they built a new home.

The stars watched in silence.

The universe was vast.

But now, they were together. Always.
